Musici Trust Small Grants for Research on Early Music
These small grants, which will usually not exceed £500, are
intended to underwrite the costs incurred in research on early music (to 1600).
Examples of expenses eligible for consideration include (but are not limited
to) the cost of travel and accommodation on research trips to libraries and
archives; of purchasing images of sources; of training for gaining skills
necessary for research into early music; of select publication costs. These
individual grants will not usually be suitable for awards related to conference
attendance or to stipends for keynote speakers.
There are no restrictions on eligibility. However, priority will be given to applications from students, from unsalaried/independent scholars, and from others without institutional research support. Because the Trust is registered in the UK, awards will be made in GBP, but applications are welcome from citizens of any country, whether or not they are resident in the UK. Grants cannot be used to cover costs incurred prior to the date of application. However, if costs will unavoidably be incurred between the date of application and the date of any favourable decision by the Trustees, these costs may be covered.
